Xiao Yao Wan (Xiao Yao Pian, Xiao Yao San, Relaxx Extract, Free & Easy Wanderer, Free and Relaxed Pills) is a well known ancient Chinese herbal formula for liver qi stagnation and one of the most-used Chinese patent remedies in the west. Although a commonly used herbal remedy to support women during their monthly cycles, it is useful for anyone to support the immune, respiratory, and digestive systems especially during times of stress.
This famous remedy was specifically designed to keep the liver qi flowing. The formula, which
consists of eight herbs, with bupleurum reigning as Emperor, is
extremely gentle and can be used safely for long periods of time.
TCM Function: Soothes the liver, dispels liver stasis, harmonizes liver and spleen, moves qi, invigorates blood, tonifies spleen qi, tonifies blood.
TCM Indications: Use for stagnation of liver qi with blood deficiency. May be used together with blood invigorators when liver stagnation is involved. Other applications include liver-spleen disharmony. For PMS, many patients are better served by Jia Wei Xiao Yan Wan which is stronger at clearing liver heat.

Directions:
As a dietary supplement, take 8 pills, 2-3 times a day with lukewarm water. (Dosage may be increased to 12 pills if needed). Recommended dosage for premenstrual tension is given between ovulation and first day period begins. A course of treatment may last 4-5 months.
